Think Mondrian. Create rectangles in various sizes. Mix colors and shapes. For visual relief, mix cabinet depths and volumes to create negative space. Make what looks like an orange column into a pull-out pantry. The secret technique: use touch-to-open drawers so no pull is needed. Instead of conventional cabinets at the base of this U-shaped kitchen, make a bridge of wallhung cabinets. The large pantry needs to be fully accessible, so use both types of door hardware in the ingredients above. The 180-degree hinge on one door allows it to wrap against the pantry (no projection allowed because there is a doorway). The sliding Horizon hardware allows full access on the other side.
