INGREDIENTS

1/16” thick white oak veneers

Oil-rubbed bronze bars for countertop trim and drawer/door pulls 

PREPARATION

Start 4-5 months in advance

Source the highest quality white oak veneers you can find, free of defects and imperfections. You may have to purchase several longs in order to end up with enough 1/16" - thick veneers.
Slice veneers and lay them up to create a pattern of "manufactured hearts" (narrow cathedral-like patterns), interspersed with rift-sawn panels.
Bleach the oak panels to remove yellow undertone.
Brush the panels to remove a layer of the tree’s new growth, creating a texture that follows the natural growth rings of the tree
Tint with dark water-based stain.
Cut all doors, drawer faces, scribes, and panels. Remember to make and use edgebanding that matches the faces. Protect with plant-based oil. Install.
